Why is my laminator not working well?

Have you ever been confused by this: your laminator’s performance is getting worse and worse. The laminated items either have warped edges or are covered with bubbles, yet you can never figure out the root cause? Actually, the problem may lie in these details—

1. Incorrect machine parameter settings, which naturally compromise the results

Temperature "off track": If the temperature is too low, the adhesive layer won’t melt properly, leaving the sealed edges loose and prone to warping with a slight touch. If it’s too high, it’s even worse: the laminating film may burn and deform, and the photos or documents inside may fade or wrinkle, ruining perfectly good items.

Mismatched speed: Setting the speed too fast makes the materials "rush through" the machine. The adhesive hasn’t fully heated up before the process finishes, leading to bubbles and delamination. Setting it too slow can cause "overdoing it"—the film gets overheated, becomes brittle, or even sticks to the machine and can’t be pulled off.
Inappropriate pressure: Insufficient pressure makes the film and the item "seemingly bonded but actually separated," with gaps in between. Excessive pressure is worse: thin paper gets crumpled, and the edges of thicker documents or cards may even crack.

2. Mismatch between the film and the item, rendering even the best machine useless

Wrong film specifications: A film that’s too thin will break under high temperatures; one that’s too thick can’t be properly melted by the machine’s heating power, resulting in "fake bonding" no matter how long you laminate. Size matters too: a film smaller than the item leaves edges unsealed; a too-large film tends to get skewed and wrinkled when fed into the machine.

3. Careless operation and maintenance turn minor issues into major problems

Misaligned feeding: Feeding the item crookedly or not centering it with the film results in uneven edge widths, or even half-bonded and half-warped edges—all that effort for nothing.

4. Environment can also "hold you back"

Low room temperatures in winter mean the machine takes forever to reach the set temperature, leaving the adhesive under-melted. High humidity makes the film or the item absorb moisture, significantly reducing the adhesive’s stickiness—laminated items may start peeling soon after.

In fact, poor lamination results are rarely caused by a single factor. Checking parameters, choosing the right materials, and keeping the machine clean can easily solve many problems~
