What can I do if the laminator temperature is normal but laminating bubbles appear?

In daily life, whether dealing with important documents in an office setting or preserving precious photos at home, the issue of "normal laminator temperature but bubbles still forming during lamination" with a laminator is extremely frustrating. Carefully organized documents and photos that hold memories end up looking cheap due to dense bubbles after lamination, and even fail to provide the intended protective effect. However, there's no need to immediately conclude that the laminating machine is faulty. By first checking these easily overlooked details, you can mostly restore a smooth lamination result.

1. Prioritize checking the compatibility between the laminating film and the laminator: Confirm whether the thickness of the laminating film used (such as the common 80μm and 100μm) matches the "applicable film thickness range" marked on the laminator. Even if the laminator temperature is set correctly, an overly thick film will not adhere completely due to insufficient heating, while an overly thin film tends to wrinkle and form bubbles due to overheating.

2. Inspect the condition of the document itself: If the laminating pouch thickness is compatible, then check whether the surface of the document is clean and flat. If the paper is stained with oil, dust, or has wrinkles or curled edges, these impurities and uneven parts will block the adhesion between the film and the paper during lamination, thereby trapping air and forming bubbles.

3. Clean the laminator's pressure rollers: If the first two checks show no issues, turn off the power and wait for the laminator to cool down, then wipe the upper and lower pressure rollers with a dry, soft cloth. After long-term use, the roller surfaces are prone to residual adhesive and dust. These dirt particles will cause uneven local pressure, trapping air between the film and the paper and resulting in bubbles.

As for laminated items that already have bubbles, they are not entirely irreparable: if the bubbles are small and scattered, you can wait for the laminated item to cool down completely, then place it flat in the laminator again (be careful to align the direction to avoid film misalignment), slow down the lamination speed, and process it once more. Most small bubbles can be pressed out through this re-lamination.
